Comments

  1. Rbilak says:

The Pens are like The Forrest Gump Quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates”. You don’t know what Pens team you may get. They are consistently inconsistent.

James Neal on point. Bad move. Cannot give short handed chances in a game 6, yet we all know they will.

Ollie Maata out? DE in? Well
At least #1 D man Scuderi is fine and will play valuable minutes tonight.

Sorry you do not pay Letang that much and then not be able to trust him on powerplay. I expect a star to have many great games, not a couple. Matt Niskanen will get 6 million as free agent, no home town discount, so thanks to Letang and Scuderi he is good as gone. I am sure Ray is working 5 year deal on Orpik.

All that and they still can surprise me and win tonight. The Rangers minus king Henry are not very good. Hopefully this is not Tampa and we lose a 3-1 lead.

  2. ken robertson says:

The egg they laid in game 5 told me all I need to know about this team.

  3. DJ says:

    Nisky on PP? Great.

Some things are so obvious there should be no need to even discuss them.

  4. DJ says:

Would welcome same level of physicality as Game 4.

Should have good idea if there will be a Game 7 by first 10 minutes of Period 1. Need to get an early lead and keep it.

  5. Sarah says:

To be clear, that was Rbilak, not me in disguise……

  6. Sarah says:

They’ve laid that egg many times before.
They are 1 of 8 in close out playoff games at home.
Some arse on The Fan this AM was trying to say how mentally tough they are.

Good God the Pgh media is SO bad at hockey…..

With a notable exception or two……

  7. Sarah says:

I think games 3 and 4 had JMs fingerprints on them.
Then Coach Dan tried to close it out his way…..and the results were obvious.

Seriously there are bad things going on in that Locker room. Coaching oriented, IMO.

  8. theplanisworking says:

    GO PENS!

As Milo has said, the Pens have never won a home game 7, where they lost game 6. So tonight is do or die. Win, face the Broonz. Lose, and most probably go home.

    GO PENS !!

  9. Milo Hamilton says:

Just when you think you have these guys figured out a night like Friday happens. Just playing with our minds I guess. I don’t know, maybe they were due. It was their first regulation loss since April 5th – 15 games.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is the complete lack of home ice advantage at Consol. OK, maybe not. The most troublesome thing has to be the large volume of complete no shows by these guys since the Olympic break. It’s a sure sign they’ve tuned out their coach. Yeah, that’s the most troublesome thing.

  10. Milo Hamilton says:

Maata is taking the warm up. Looks like a go.

  11. BillyBaduka says:

    Agreed Milo.

  12. BillyBaduka says:

    LET’S GO PENS!

  13. Bizrow says:

Don’t know about others, but I am all IN

  14. JohninOshkosh says:

Why wasn’t one of these 2 hockey games tonight on this afternoon, instead of the third period of the first game going up against the beginning of the other ?

Does Mother’s Day kill afternoon ratings ?

  15. Milo Hamilton says:

    Golf.

  16. JohninOshkosh says:

Oh, TPC. Forgot NBC had that. Didn’t watch anything today.

I thought it had to do with NBC’s marriage to the EPL (and people thinking ESPN pimping for the NBA is bad).

So, who had the most road goals ?

  17. Milo Hamilton says:

Rick Nash vs. James Neal. Can either of these two stiffs get off the schneid ?

  18. Brandie says:

I do not like Shawn Thornton…I do not like PK Subban, but man, what Shawn Thornton did to PK Subban is completely beyond! Garage Leagues is too kind of a descriptor.

    GO PENS!!!!

  19. JohninOshkosh says:

Climbing a mountain of sand. Making a mountain of sand.

  20. Vette60 says:

Well, listening while at work…not a good start to say the least.

    Yuck.

    Randy in RVA.

  21. Gene-Zo says:

So much for “the first 10 minutes,” Milo.

  22. Milo Hamilton says:

From DK – No team has won a game in this round after allowing the 1st goal. And there’s #2, another piece of crap by Fleury.

  23. JohninOshkosh says:

Just leave Manhattan now, Pens, and go back to Pittsburgh to rest for Game 7.

  24. Andrew says:

Not good enough from Fluery, rebounds have been bad. And Bortozzo sucks at pinching did the same thing but along the wall three to four times last game.

  25. DJ says:

Said the first 10 minutes would likely decide it.

    Not a good omen.

  26. Arriba Wilver says:

I think this is game 6, but it’s looking like the loss part will be correct. ;-)

  27. Sarah says:

It’s ok! The league fined him a whopping 2800 bucks!
That’ll make sure it never happens again!!!

  28. DJ says:

Our forwards barely skating back for second goal after the 2 on 1 fumbled by Rangers. Horrible effort.

    Effort . . . there’s that word again.

  29. Randy says:

How many more times do we have to see this in the playoffs? And I’m real tired of hearing how this team thinks it has something to prove. Wonder when that starts?

  30. Milo Hamilton says:

    Cue the undisciplined penalties.

  31. DJ says:

    Neal has disappeared.

  32. Vette60 says:

Geez…what a disappointing start to say the least…horrible.

    Randy in RVA.

  33. DJ says:

Of course, that would presume he actually appeared at some point.

  34. radio wave says:

I am at pnc park, love the 2-0 score.

  35. Milo Hamilton says:

If I didn’t know any better I’d swear I was watching a mutiny.

  36. Barb says:

Well shame on them if that is true.

  37. DJ says:

Cannot see Lundqvist giving up 3 tonight.

One more against us and we’re buried.

  38. Milo Hamilton says:

I don’t see him giving up any.

  39. Arriba Wilver says:

    Are you joking or serious?

    In the playoffs?

  40. DJ says:

Our passing has been pathetic. Behind, in front, in skates.

    Sign of a shaken team.

  41. Randy says:

Just do not get this team…so much talent, so much ineptitude.

  42. Vette60 says:

    I’m sure you do!

Enjoy the Bucco game and hopefully this one ends badly for you!

    R.

  43. hockeymonster says:

Don’t see high slot and center point being used to setup re-directs. Anaheim executed 1-1-3 to perfection last night. Nyr have our systems figured out. Let’s throw a change up and curveball. PP is abysmal. My offer to hold a seminar stands. My area of expertise. Just sayin…

  44. DJ says:

Whatever is going on they better get on the same page for Game 7.

  45. Sarah says:

    Wow,puck luck….

  46. hockeymonster says:

    Gooaalll

  47. Andrew says:

Have to put a couple more off Rangers.

  48. Milo Hamilton says:

Just like Disco drew it up. ;)

  49. Vette60 says:

Well, I’ll take that – a bounce that goes our way. Way to go Sutter! 2-1 Rangers…

    Let’s go PENS!

    R.

  50. Arriba Wilver says:

Should have gone under the “mutiny” post.

  51. Sarah says:

    Next goal gonna be huge

  52. Milo Hamilton says:

I’ve been watching hockey since the Nixon administration. I have no idea what to make of this. Totally at a loss.

  53. cherokee23 says:

I’m probably way wrong here, but I’m gonna say pens pull this one out. I think rangers are on verge of their emotion being out of control. We’ll see over next couple hours

  54. Milo Hamilton says:

I do know that Kathryn Tappen is wonderful.

  55. Andrew says:

Ducks got out-shot 7-24, attempts 22-59, even strength.

  56. Sarah says:

The coach has lost the team.
    For quite some time.

  57. Carlos Danger says:

Mike milbury + jeremy roenick = mute button.

  58. Arriba Wilver says:

    +++

  59. Carlos Danger says:

    Agreed.

  60. Arriba Wilver says:

But I really like the blond one’s dress.

  61. Carlos Danger says:

I didn’t notice her dress. But I like the blonde.

  62. hockeymonster says:

They sat back after getting lead but didn’t give up a lot around the net. 3rd period was solid with the lead. Point is our forecheck is being picked apart. Last part of 1st was obviously better.

  63. JohninOshkosh says:

    “Love’s always been my game
    Play it how I may
    I was made that way
    Can’t help it

Men cluster to me like moths around a flame
And if their wings burn, I know I’m not to blame

    Fallin’ in love again
    Never wanted to
    What am I to do?
    Can’t help it”

Of all the sports babes, KT is the sports babiest.

  64. Purple Moose says:

I know lots of players have played bad on and off this playoffs but really one good game for Crosby so far. How about a dramatic statement and put #87 squarely on the end of the bench for the entire 2nd period to let him and the team know that this is UNACCEPTABLE.

  65. Milo Hamilton says:

Can you imagine the atmosphere in and around a potential Game 7 ? What a mess that would be.

  66. Arriba Wilver says:

    So THAT’S Kathryn Tappen?!

    OK, I see now.

  67. Andrew says:

Variety is always good, maybe some of those cross corner dumps Bruins style, just don’t let Bortuzzo pinch.

  68. DJ says:

Just heard Fleury’s shrink booked a flight to Pgh.

    Not a good sign.

  69. Sarah says:

    I agree

  70. Milo Hamilton says:

I’d settle for a dramatic statement FROM #87.

  71. Andrew says:

    Side wall is not open.

  72. Vette60 says:

    Too many men, Pens…shorthanded again.

    Kill it Pens!

    R.

  73. Sarah says:

    Too many men good Lord

  74. Milo Hamilton says:

This Kreider jabrone is totally out of control.

  75. sam says:

    And what will that accomplish?

  76. Sarah says:

    More luck that’s a goal…..

  77. Gene-Zo says:

Huge break for Pens on “goaltender interference” call . . .

  78. Purple Moose says:

We’ve been waiting for that for 3 playoff seasons now from 87

  79. Arriba Wilver says:

You must not have been listening to Milbury. No problem with the Rangers. The Penguins are diving. ;-)

  80. JohninOshkosh says:

Make up call for that linesman not moving his fat ass and the Pens getting whistled for too many men.

Although, Pens radio wanted a 5 minute major there!

  81. cobra39 says:

What a BS call on Bennett.

  82. hockeymonster says:

DUMP IT IN AND FORECHECK. SKATING PUCK ACROSS IS POINTLESS UNLESS WE HAVE ODD MAN RUSH.

  83. Andrew says:

They have been making that goaltender interference call all playoffs, Kuntiz was sent for the box for being pushed into the goalie earlier in the series.

  84. Vette60 says:

Geez, Interference Bennett. Come on boys.

    R.

  85. Milo Hamilton says:

Thank goodness Beau Bennett does the big things. Oh, nevermind.

  86. Purple Moose says:

So that was Crosby’s first power play shot on goal of the SERIES. Way to lead captain.

  87. Milo Hamilton says:

    He’s been dreadful.

  88. JohninOshkosh says:

    Don’t feed the dogs, Jandy.

Link sent me on necessary quest to guess the celebrity cleavage.

  89. Milo Hamilton says:

Pens PP 1-17 in the series.

  90. JohninOshkosh says:

Let’s go 2-18 on the PP right now, boys!

  91. Sarah says:

My God they’re a train wreck

  92. Milo Hamilton says:

Oh, Malkin on the point will surely fix it.

  93. Carlos Danger says:

    That. Was. Pathetic.

  94. JohninOshkosh says:

    Weird, weird game.

  95. Vette60 says:

    Game…3-1 Rangers…

Interesting from the ol’ 29er. Pens won’t shoot on the PP, but Rangers make a single shot on net and take advantage of the Pens inablity to control the rebound…

Awful that I am at work on a Sunday night and even worse is the fact that the Pens are stinking it up again…

    Randy in RVA.

  96. Purple Moose says:

What rule is it that you have to connect on 5 passes in a row before you are allowed to shoot?

  97. DJ says:

    Effort goal.

    Lack of effort D.

  98. Carlos Danger says:

Buccos down 4-0 in top of the 2nd. So overall a rough night so far for pittsburgh sports.

  99. Milo Hamilton says:

Oh well, at least there’s the Bucco game. Oh, nevermind.

  100. john says:

who didn’t take the body at the blue line? left his man in to control the puck.

  101. Thundercrack says:

I don’t watch many Penguin games anymore , but even EYE was yelling ‘Shoot the puck!’

  102. DJ says:

Off season Job #1: Trade Neal.

  103. JohninOshkosh says:

    Hey, I was DVR’ing that game. :)

  104. JohninOshkosh says:

Even Pens radio called the “passing mentality” frustrating.

  105. Jandy says:

Man oh man…this is just….frightful…I can’t even find the words…

  106. J Walter Weatherman says:

The problems with this team begin with the captain, Sidney Crosby. For a guy who leads by example, his example has been embarrassing in these playoffs. A lot of fans like to blame Malkin, Letang, Scuderi, and Fleury for the teams’ woes, but none of the supporting cast overall has been much better than expected in the playoffs. It’s the captain that bears the brunt of this mess.

  107. Jandy says:

We have Sidney Crosby, the league points leader, for our Captain.
Rgas have a Hobbit leading them, and they are decimating us.

  108. DJ says:

On Game 7: Thankfully we play better better with more adversity.

  109. Randy says:

Another spring collapse…I always gave Bylsma the benefit of the doubt, but for whatever reason he can’t motivate this team. So how many “we need to play with desperation” quotes are we going to hear after this one?

  110. Milo Hamilton says:

If they blow this nothing should be off the table. From the stick boys all the way up to the General Manager.

  111. J Walter Weatherman says:

I agree with the Rangers fans. Crosby does suck.

  112. DJ says:

No Guerin, no Roberts, no heart.

  113. Jandy says:

These guys are embarrassing themselves now. Go sit down already.

  114. Carlos Danger says:

I know I am reaching here, but maybe that brouhaha will wake Crosby up for the 3rd. Wishful thinking, but he needs to pull his head out of his arse here.

  115. Purple Moose says:

Couldn’t have said it any better. Obvious he doesn’t lead in the locker room and he has not only been not scoring but he is hurting the team with his lack of effort and awful passing and he is killing the power play. If this guy was a no name 4th liner, he would have been scratched.

  116. JohninOshkosh says:

Well, time to watch “Rosemary’s Baby.”

  117. J Walter Weatherman says:

It just reeked of frustrated Crosby to me, not motivated Crosby. He was the one who started the brouhaha with the cheap shot on Moore, which is exactly the shot that we were all decrying when Lucic a couple weeks ago.

  118. DJ says:

Roenick and Milbury wetting pants in anticipation that Pens get knocked out.

    A-holes.

  119. Vette60 says:

I agree – that seems to be Philly series Crosby.

    R.

  120. hockeymonster says:

    No worries guys…PP is due.

  121. J Walter Weatherman says:

This. Leadership on this team is a real issue.

  122. JohninOshkosh says:

    New York television market=$$$

  123. Jandy says:

Why is everything Crosby’s fault? Last i checked, hockey is a team sport. These guys do not play co-hesively as a team. Maybe for 20 minutes or 40….then they take the next 60 or 80 minutes off. Teams don’t win cups that way. And it’s NOT one player’s fault.

  124. Jandy says:

is that where Milbury came from????

  125. sam says:

What series have you been watching? How many cheap shots has he taken without any response from either him or his teammates? Criticizing him for his less than overwhelming play is one thing but now you are looking for things.

  126. Carlos Danger says:

Dude, I said it was wishful thinking. Geez.

  127. hockeymonster says:

They have our tendencies figured out. That’s not on sid unless he’s insisting on being with geno on PP. We’ve become too predictable. No curveballs or change ups.

    Sigh…

  128. BillyBaduka says:

    +

  129. JohninOshkosh says:

    :)

  130. radio wave says:

Getting bits of game between innings here. Go rangers.

  131. J Walter Weatherman says:

Because he’s supposed to be the leader of the team and the best player in the world, and he’s paid like it. If he plays to his “normal” level, the series is probably over already. Plus, his recent track record in the playoffs allows for this discussion.

It is not all his fault, but he is the one player on the team playing well below expectations.

  132. hockeymonster says:

What happened to high slot and center point plays for redirects? Speed n numbers need to lead to forecheck n cycle with shots n redirects. Hopefully that will lead to PP and momentum. Hopefully…

  133. cobra39 says:

Adams on PK is like a mannequin on skates.

  134. churbster says:

Am I missing something or are the NYR’s out hustling us?
and the NYR’s seem to have fully implemented the Philly style of play against us.
I don’t like the flow of this game…

  135. Sarah says:

    The F Neal?

  136. Andrew says:

Execute, that is the bottom line. I’ll leave leadership, clutch, and psychological analysis to the sports writers. Penguins execution sucks, their zone exits are bad, puck retrieval worse. A 40 goal score looks insipid. Crosby Malkin line makes match ups easy. Goal tending is not good enough and power play is giving nothing.

  137. Viv says:

When is the last time the pens won game 7 on home ice ? Series over.

  138. J Walter Weatherman says:

One of the many questionable decisions by the coaching staff.

Nice play by Letang to draw the penalty. There’s a guy finally playing up to expectations for the first time this season.

  139. Vette60 says:

    Yep…well, at least it’s now a 4 on 4…

  140. Sarah says:

    Certainly never under Bylsma.
    Maybe early 90s?

  141. Milo Hamilton says:

    1995 & 1991. But never after losing Game 6.

  142. Viv says:

I believe lost to islanders and Florida in game 7 in the 90’s

  143. Milo Hamilton says:

They did win a road Game 7 after losing a 6th game – 2009 against the Caps. They’ve never lost a road Game 7.

  144. Randy says:

Maybe we should just be put out of our misery this series. This team would have a very good chance of being swept by the Bruins again. At least, if they blow this 3-1 series lead, management might feel motivated to make some big changes. I always assumed that with Crosby and Malkin, it was just a matter of time before they won another Cup. But that doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, at least not under Bylsma.

  145. Tim says:

    Those were at home

  146. Sarah says:

    You must be new here.
    :-D

  147. Milo Hamilton says:

I thought the Rangers were supposed to be tired.

  148. Tim says:

87 is an embarrassment. If he’s the best the NHL has this leagues going out of business. It starts and ends with the face of the NHL

  149. Randy says:

Yep, I’m sure I’m covering old ground…but need to vent. This is such a frustrating team.

  150. J Walter Weatherman says:

Bennett and Neal. Two guys who have no stick control whatsoever. That’ll about do it…

  151. Milo Hamilton says:

Beau Bennett is Eric Tangradi in sheeps clothing.

  152. Tim says:

Not good for #19 when you get a shift a period and take a penalty the last 2

  153. Florida Steeler says:

The fans seem to be the only ones that recognize this team will not win a cup with Fleury and Bylsma. And, Shero, with his recent trades, is falling into that group.

  154. J Walter Weatherman says:

Having Adams and Scuderi on the PK is like having 2 pylons on the ice.

  155. Tim says:

Hope Mario and Burkle saved their money cause the sellout streak ends no later than October. Can’t really imagine 18000 morons dropping a c note or better to watch this team any longer

  156. Tim says:

    Gibbons has no talent

  157. J Walter Weatherman says:

Girardi vs. Gibbons. NHL > AHL

  158. Milo Hamilton says:

    It might end on Tuesday.

  159. Viv says:

This team is not built for the playoffs – maybe after this embarrassment they finally make changes and address the problems, or they may not, you never know.

  160. J Walter Weatherman says:

I’d be willing to bet a decent amount of money that the next column from DK will be about the Pens captain.

  161. Karen22 says:

Been sitting in stunned silence watching this fiasco. I have NO idea who or what this Penguins team is. No words…

  162. Tim says:

At least espn is happy with their Sunday night game. Probably be 2020 before buccos are on again

  163. J Walter Weatherman says:

What’s most amazing to me is this: can you remember a rooting interest that has been so easy to criticize? A team of underachieving superstars is not a way to build a supportive fan base.

  164. Viv says:

This is for the most part the same team as last year, which was similar to the team the year before that, which is similar to the team the year before that, which is similar to the team before that….and we all know the outcome do those teams.

  165. Milo Hamilton says:

Maybe if they put a 7th guy out there.

  166. J Walter Weatherman says:

Hey, the Pens acting like punks after a tough loss. What does that remind us of?

  167. Florida Steeler says:

All this team does is talk, talk, talk. Crosby will say the same thing tonight as he does after every loss.

  168. cobra39 says:

    Pens – Flyers, circa 2012.

  169. cobra39 says:

What do you expect him to say?

  170. Andrew says:

Have to hope a two game sample is not predictive of the next game’s performance.

  171. Sarah says:

I’d actually love it if he’d totally lose his sh-t and call everyone out including himself.

  172. BillyBaduka says:

Yeah but he has something most of the talent is not showing, heart.

  173. Milo Hamilton says:

Bylsma just announced that Game 7 is optional.

  174. DJ says:

    No Rangers blog?

Or does every post begin with “effin”?

  175. Florida Steeler says:

Did you not read their tough talk quotes going into today’s game?? Walk the talk or shut the hell up!!!

  176. cobra39 says:

    It would be entertaining ….

  177. BillyBaduka says:

    +

  178. cobra39 says:

I thought you were discussing post-game comments …

  179. Florida Steeler says:

    For him, also??

  180. BillyBaduka says:

    Nice!

  181. J Walter Weatherman says:

Post of the evening. You win.

  182. DJ says:

    Agreed.

  183. Sarah says:

    Whole place needs blown up.

  184. Florida Steeler says:

    Boy, do I agree.

  185. Milo Hamilton says:

    Everyone is just too comfortable.

“Would welcome same level of physicality as Game 4.” FAILED

“Should have good idea if there will be a Game 7 by first 10 minutes of Period 1. Need to get an early lead and keep it.” FAILED

Bylsma with one final exam left. Better ace it.

  187. Sarah says:

I hope there are tough questions in the presser. I’m sure there will be some harsh words in various columns tomorrow, but man they should be in Bylsma’s FACE in the post game.

  188. Florida Steeler says:

Do Pittsburgh writers have the cajounes???

  189. Purple Moose says:

Gibbons was their best player tonight.

  190. Dom says:

I can’t imagine that we can pull this off after being up 3-1.

  191. Karen22 says:

    LOL! :)

  192. chethejet1 says:

How would everyone like to see Crosby gone next year? Really how anyone can not see he is getting hammered and once every three games Kunitz feels guilty and pushes someone. Mario and Shero and Bylsma are dopes and it will come back and cost them next year. I can’t see people continuing to make cash and emotional investments in such a dysfunctional gutless franchise. In a strange way I hope they beat the Rangers so Boston can just pummel this team in an embarrassing way.

  193. Purple Moose says:

Hell no, they let Bylsma say yesterday that Scuderi was playing his best hockey of the season.

The next question to Coach One Plan Dan should have been “Do you think we’re all idiots?”

  194. J Walter Weatherman says:

My posts are tame compared to this. Well done. I might disagree with most of what you said, but I appreciate your zeal.

  195. Purple Moose says:

Crosby has not been hit this playoffs more than any other team’s star players. They all get hammered.

Face it, he hasn’t only not scored, he has been downright awful all series. His passes are awful, his decision making is awful, his leadership is non existent as has been his motivation and body language on the ice.

Make all the excuses you want, he has stunk and if he is injured then somebody should say something or sit him until he is healthy.

  196. Sarah says:

I just want RS and DB gone and rebuilding to begin.
Part of me is wondering if Sid hasn’t just quit. Can’t believe that, it is so not like him, but I really have no explanation.

  197. DJ says:

    Tampa Bay 2011.

  198. Purple Moose says:

Starting time for Tuesday just announced for 7:00pm………………………….wonder what time the Pens will show up?

  199. J Walter Weatherman says:

One game left in the Dan Blysma era. Maybe DK will have a special post for this so we can have an online party.

  200. Ellie says:

Don’t you wonder *why* Crosby gets hammered and none of his teammates respond? It seems there’s been a problem in the room for a while now. The “leader” sulks and profoundly underperforms, over and over. The cowed coach is at a loss for words, let alone actions, over and over. Everyone plays for himself, over and over. No cohesion, over and over. No *team*, over and over. Where’s Herb Brooks when you need him (may he rest in peace)?

(Long-time lurker, first-time commenter. The frustration’s gotten the best of me …)

  201. Viv says:

Dejan – don’t hold back after this loss – can’t wait to read your article. If Crosby is held pointless and the Pens lose game 7, one has to wonder if he really is a big game player. He is developing quite a history of doing nothing when it counts the most. Had it not been for his Olympic gold medal goal has, is reputation would have been shot a long time back.

  202. Sarah says:

    Josh Yohe ‏@JoshYohe_Trib 4m
When I left the Penguins locker room, two people remained: No. 87 and No. 66.

    That is interesting….

  203. tomh says:

we cant be suprised by this. they arent built for the playoffs. most players play on the perimeter, which doesnt work in the playoffs gotta get dirty goals. and the team doesnt have heart.

  204. Andrew says:

Well I hope this version is better, than Staal, Talbot, and Letestu down the center and Aaron Asham pacing them in scoring. But who knows at this point.

  205. DJ says:

No one is getting rid of Crosby or Malkin.

Everyone/everything else needs to be on table.

Need playoff-type complimentary players: effort, heart, tough, smart.

If no ECF, Dan must go.

    Hoping for miracle Tuesday night.

  206. theplanisworking says:

Missed the game, glad I did.

Can’t wait for all the posters who say we are hating on Bylsma after yet ANOTHER pathetic performance.

Team has tuned out the coaches. Team has zero leadership. PP abysmal.
Now, the Penguins have to buck 47 years of history and win a game 7, after losing a game 6. Do we have the coaches and players to do this? Based on history, I say no. Hope I am wrong.

If the Pens do lose, and the current GM/coaches are kept, then the fans should boycott that joke of a slap in the face. Empty seats will trump the love affair Mario has with Shero/Bylsma. By then it will be too late.

  207. Gene-Zo says:

“Everyone plays for himself, over and over. No cohesion, over and over. No *team*, over and over.”
You NAILED it. And that all comes down to coaching.

  209. Daquido_Bazzini says:

Lemieux, Clemente, Stargell, Lambert, Ham, Stallworth….Great players won’t let this kind of baloney happen!
    Crosby/Malkin….There’s no excuse for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  210. DJ says:

Actually welcomed Kunitz standing up for Sid. Thought it was LONG overdue. Letang saw it and hid before Kunitz came in.

Habs’ D-man hip checks Lucic last night and four Bruins right in guy’s face INSTANTANEOUSLY.

Have we seen that even ONCE in our two series?

  211. wvstarship says:

This is true, and frankly everyone knew this BEFORE the playoffs started. I also don’t understand why Pens fans are so frustrated; we’ve seen this act before, haven’t we? Should be used to it by now.

  212. Andrew says:

I hope they pull out game seven because I am not looking forward to the Adam Oates era.

  213. theplanisworking says:

Murtaugh, Noll, Tanner, Cowher wouldn’t let this happen either!

Just tired of the same uninspired play, with the accompanying excuses every time. I guess I should be happy this team isnt the Maple Loafs, but the maple Loafs don’t have the “BEST 2 PLAYERS IN THE WORLD”!! and the “BEST COACH’!!

Can’t wait for the press clippings on this egg.

  214. wvstarship says:

Never happen; fans here are used to overpaying to see their prima donna ‘stars’ rack up points in the regular season and then disappear in the playoffs. If the Pens’ FO was actually serious about trying to win a cup they would have sacked DB LAST season after the Boston fiasco. Instead, they rewarded his being a failure by giving him an extension!! And if the fans were serious about holding the FO’s feet to the flame they wouldn’t have sold out a bazillion games in a row at ticket prices that would gag a maggot.

  215. Arriba Wilver says:

You’ve always misunderstood the blowback on the criticism of Bylsma. He certainly is subject to a lot of criticism, but he isn’t responsible for Putin’s takeover of the Crimea or global warming.

    JMO

  216. J Walter Weatherman says:

There might be a reason Barry Trotz hasn’t taken another position yet … at least, that’s what I’m hoping. That said, the problems on this team go well beyond Bylsma. I think he needs to go if they lose this next game, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle.

  217. Viv says:

Ugh – and I didn’t it could get any worse…that would do it.

  218. Ellie says:

Listening to some of the post-game radio clips. Sid’s quite snippy with the press. At least he’s showing some aggression somewhere.

  219. Sarah says:

Stan Savran just completely ripped this team a new arshole.
    Fun stuff.

  220. chethejet1 says:

If there are not significant changes after this season, then Mario will find that fans may not be all that interested in shelling our big bucks to see a stale team with a stale coach and a useless GM. It may take some empty seats until Mario and Ron get it. Crosby is taking way to much crap here. Yes he is not a robot and is getting frustrated with the whole scene. Shero put too much money in to many players pockets for them to have any sense of accountability.

  221. Andrew says:

NHL coaches are very expendable, but change for the sake of change is a great thing to yell on sports call in show, less sound strategy in reality. Outside Trotz are there any options, you could roll the dice on an AHL guy or career assistant?

Penguins haven’t been a good puck possession since Staal left, you can win that way if you have elite goal tending but they don’t have that. Mistake are made all time (Scuderi) in sports, the better teams identify those mistakes and correct them quickly.

  222. theplanisworking says:

    I haven’t misunderstood anything.

  223. Don ga says:

Pirates are coming back 4-3 in 7th on comeback trail so will Pens on Tue

  224. Arriba Wilver says:

    Of course not.

  225. 66sports says:

I agree with FLORIDA STEELER earlier. This team is all talk and no “walk”. I don’t get to see them much all year due to living in CA, but more often than not in the playoffs, they are effortless. They are consistently out worked and it seems like they rely too much on reputation and less on hard work ALL THE TIME. The next time I see Crosby or Malkin play to their press clippings, will be the first in a long time. I don’t care if Crosby gets beat up, do did Mario and Gretzky but they still managed to perform!

  226. theplanisworking says:

But I do notice your constant condescending attitude toward others you don’t agree with. Was there any need to respond to my comment tonight? Not at all, but just another example of you trolling for trouble.

    Good night.

  227. theplanisworking says:

    Sobering thought……….

The Pens are the Eastern Conference version of the SJ Sharks.

Great regular seasons, awful playoff performance.
But with the ‘2 best players in the world’, and the ‘best coach’, the Pens underperform each year. Then, a certain segment of fans makes excuses, while 95% of the Pittsburgh media cows in fear……… afraid to dare ask the tough questions. Dejan, and Savran are 2 notable exceptions. But, hey, what do I know. After all, I have been told I ‘misunderstand’ everything.

All I can say is, Game 7 will tell a lot about this organization. A loss better result in sweeping changes, unless ownership is happy with being embarrassed each year by inferior clubs. 2009 is a long time ago.

  228. Karen22 says:

    Column is up…ChChChChCHANGES!!!!

  229. Daquido_Bazzini says:

    “Laid” egg….

  230. theplanisworking says:

    Thanks, K !! :)

  231. Karen22 says:

    Holy moly! It’s SCATHING!!

  232. theplanisworking says:

Yeah, but we already knew this.
Question is, is anyone in the owners box listening?

  233. HeyBullDog says:

Two things: You talk way too early about things. You mock the Rangers two games ago, now you are blowing up the Penguins. Maybe you have done this before and confirmed your source, I don’t know, but laying things out there like, “I have been told that so and so are pissed and heads will roll, etc. (paraphrase) without specifically mentioning by whom and about whom, is maddening. And why now? It seems that it would have been riding out there before, why now? I have brought this up on other topics and been scorned, yet not retorted with facts, and still, you may be absolutely correct, but leaving it to such vaguery leaves me doubtful of the validity of the statement.

Second: We have game 7 at home. That’s what you play for. Enjoy.

  234. HeyBullDog says:

Sorry, three things. No player or coach or actor or musician or politician is going to reveal anything through the media. It does no good. Give them sound bites and move on.

  235. Rbilak says:

Time for the 3 excuses of the night

    1. Pens had clocks set on Pacific time so they started late.

    2. All the other defenseman are holding Scuderi back. HCDB says now Scuderi is playing better than Bobby Orr! When told Orr is near 70 and has one knee, HCDB paused and said “I told you so!”

    3. Lemieux had to talk to Sid and tell him MAF’s shrink is busy. Game 6 and the owner has to talk to the Captain? Wow.

    4. Yes I know 3, but the score would have been 45-1 in MAF did not play so well.
