  1. Steelag70 says:

Come on Cole Train…salvage this game, huh?

  2. bpn8pitt says:

Nice stat by Root. Two of the four pitchers with lowest ERA without a win, are Morton and Liriano.

    Crazy, sloppy season so far.

  3. The Gunner says:

the Bucs are on their way to 95 losses this season unless they do an abrupt about face

  4. bpn8pitt says:

Lot of games on right now. Heat-Pacers. Kings-Blackhawks. Bucs- Yanks. Shame I got to head out.

Hopefully Cole gives the Pirates a good start, with offense and defense behind him.

Little scary with JayHey at 3rd.

  5. bpn8pitt says:

Sure as hell got the Yanks B squad.

  6. Daquido_Bazzini says:

It’s only the middle of May, but it’s getting ugly with the Pirates.
If they don’t mend things soon….They’re done.
It’s ashame…..All that hard work that Neal Huntington did this off-season will go down the drain.

  7. Steelag70 says:

With all of the possible roster change after this season, it will be interesting to see what the Buccos do…

  8. Steelag70 says:

Can we not have a clean 1st inning in this series?? Geezzz

  9. Steelag70 says:

Now THAT’s how you throw from behind the plate…paying attention Mr Sanchez??

  10. Andrew says:

I don’t remember one snap throw from Sanchez, not that I would want to see one.

  11. Steelag70 says:

    Nice job Cole Train…

  12. radio wave says:

No way Sanchez makes that Play.)

  13. Steelag70 says:

    Let’s hope Marte has a better game….

  14. Andrew says:

Yankees have caught whatever disease afflicts the Pirates’ fielding.

  15. Patrick(ri) says:

Did these guys switch uniforms? Now make pay.

  16. Patrick(ri) says:

No matter what you think of Tabata, he cannot catch a break. Looks like the hamstring again.

  17. Rock Ain't Dead says:

    Infamous pulled muscle?

Too bad we don’t have any OF talent in AAA that’s ready.

  18. Lad 9 says:

If Tabby goes on the DL, who will the call up be? I can tell you who it won’t be.

  19. Steelag70 says:

He and Woodley must share the same hammy….

  20. Steelag70 says:

    Decker I guess….

  21. Rock Ain't Dead says:

Is Lambo still on the DL?

  22. twentytwo22 says:

More comedy in RF for Cole.

  23. Florida Steeler says:

How in the hell is Snider in MLB?? Great deal Neal.

  24. The Gunner says:

    Effin Snider needs to go………………NOW!!!!

  25. Rock Ain't Dead says:

    D’oh!

  26. radio wave says:

How close was Snyder to that ball. Playing like little leaguers.

  27. Rock Ain't Dead says:

Can we get some hidden vigorish today? Ugh…

  28. Steelag70 says:

    Unbelieveable…

  29. Steelag70 says:

    Yes he is….

  30. Baywatch says:

Y’all have heard of shaking up the lineup. How’s about we option ours to Indy for a week, and bring THEM up!

  31. Steelag70 says:

    ++++++

  32. The Gunner says:

Tabby will always be injury prone. It’s too bad, he really has improved and is a decent 4th OFer. Now Snider is a different story – what a freakin stiff he is!! He has to be the sacrificial lamb when NH starts shaking things up.

  33. radio wave says:

Yanks radio just talking defensive stats: color analyist says ” you mean there five teams worse than this?”

  34. Patrick(ri) says:

Tough day. Even the good plays look bad (the bunt).

  35. Andrew says:

You would think the Pirates should be able to get some runs against Nuno, but I thought the same yesterday against Phelps .

  36. Arriba Wilver says:

OK, I get the jokes about Sanchez being slow, now. Barrabas probably could have beat out that bobbled play. (OK, I exaggerate.

  37. The Gunner says:

Hurdle may have beaten it out

  38. Patrick(ri) says:

Too much bubblegum on his shoes.

  39. Steelag70 says:

    You would have thought…

  40. Steelag70 says:

    I forgot…we are facing Cy Nuno today….

  41. Steelag70 says:

    SERIOUSLY???!!

  42. Steelag70 says:

    Freakin’ Keystone Cops….

  43. The Gunner says:

Jay Hey must have the bubblegum on his shoes too

  44. Steelag70 says:

This team has no focus right now….

  45. Arriba Wilver says:

Be careful, Daq. Everybody is taking things literally today. Some may actually think you are complimenting Neal.

    :-)

  46. Florida Steeler says:

They are so, fundamentally inept, it makes you wonder what they do in spring training.

  47. twentytwo22 says:

    This is terrible.

  48. radio wave says:

    Oh that base running again!

  49. The Gunner says:

The BMTIB needs to shake things up but they don’t have big enough cogliones to take action

  50. twentytwo22 says:

He’s a thinner Wandy Rodriguez. Too much for this lineup.

  51. Steelag70 says:

The most disturbing thing is the lack of focus and fundamentals with this team…

  52. chethejet1 says:

The song remains the same. Poor base running, poor fielding, and terrible situation hitting. Come on Clint WTF?

  53. Rock Ain't Dead says:

I’ve been laid up sick these past two days and have watched every inning of this series.

    Needless to say I don’t feel better…

  54. What happened to Tabata beside that fact that he stinks?

  55. Steelag70 says:

    He hurt his hammie…

  56. twentytwo22 says:

Thank God for something tangibly good.

  57. Steelag70 says:

    Marte Par-tay!! Bout time….

  58. Steelag70 says:

    Snider still stinks….

  59. The Gunner says:

    Lucky

Will the pitching be able to prevail now?

  60. The Gunner says:

    NOPE

  61. radio wave says:

If Narte the new PA? A all or nothing hitter.

  62. The Gunner says:

That’s all this team has. They are incapable of bunching hits together to produce runs.

  63. Steelag70 says:

Marte out of the game now too….

  64. Steelag70 says:

    JayHey!!

  65. The Gunner says:

That’s one way Jay Hey won’t make a base running gaff, ha ha!

Now, will the Bucco pitching be able to hold the Yanks at bay?

  66. Steelag70 says:

Looks like he will be going to LF as well….

  67. Patrick(ri) says:

The Yankees are really into dead people on the PA system???

  68. The Gunner says:

    Hey Patrick

It’s better than when the Pirates had some jibronie dressed up like Roberto Clemente stand on second base when they honored the 40th anniversary of his 3,000th hit

  69. Patrick(ri) says:

I enjoy watching him play, no matter where they put him. I think he brings energy and enthusiasm. And it looks like he can hit, if played enough.

  70. Rock Ain't Dead says:

A situational lefty on lefty move by Clint? Wow.

  71. Patrick(ri) says:

I remember thinking they should have put a family member out there.

  72. The Gunner says:

I have no problem with Jay Hey. He is a real spark plug among a bunch of low energy teammates.

  73. Andrew says:

I gave up after that Harrison base running debacle, mowed some grass, and come back to see the Pirates are in another tight one run game, time is a flat circle.

  74. Patrick(ri) says:

    A live one, of course.

  75. Steelag70 says:

So do I, but concerning that both Tabby and Marte are both out…

  76. twentytwo22 says:

Trevor Rosenthal may be having a problem.

  77. The Gunner says:

I thought that was really in poor taste but, the Clemente family must have been OK with it.

  78. Steelag70 says:

    Buccos caught a break there…

  79. radio wave says:

Give Snider credit, he saved a run.

  80. Milo Hamilton says:

So if Tabata & Marte both get DL’d then you would have to bring … nevermind.

  81. Steelag70 says:

    Decker and Dickerson?? :D

  82. Andrew says:

Nice to see other teams blow one run leads.

  83. Milo Hamilton says:

Yeah. Yeah, that’s it. Decker & Dickerson. ;)

  84. Steelag70 says:

Marte and Tabby must be sharing the same hammy…

  85. The Gunner says:

Don’t forget the hit collector aka Matt Hague

  86. radio wave says:

    You’re probably right. Ashame

  87. Steelag70 says:

Or somehow Lambo will miraculously be ready to come off the DL….

  88. Lad 9 says:

    Matt Diaz is available….

  89. The Gunner says:

Does that absolve all of Snider’s past sins?

  90. Steelag70 says:

    Jayyyyyyyy Heeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  91. Patrick(ri) says:

What is more fun than that?

  92. Lad 9 says:

    +++++++++++

  93. The Gunner says:

Jay Hey certainly is a hustler – great effort

  94. Chuck H says:

I predicted that the Bucs would be lucky to win one out of three, with Cole having the best chance at it. This whole Pirate team of auto outs stinks. It has turned a very good pitching staff into a laughing stock of both leagues. Got to be the worst team with RISP, ever. GO, STEELERS!!!

  95. radio wave says:

    More Xnider credit good bunt.

  96. Somebody figured out how to hit a sac fly.

  97. Thundercrack says:

A nice throw from the outfield.

  98. The Gunner says:

Will the bullpen be able to close this one out?

  99. Milo Hamilton says:

What your witnessing is a carefully orchestrated plot by the Pirates players. They’re going to get Gregory Polanco to the big leagues if it takes every last one of them pulling a hamstring.

  100. Steelag70 says:

    +++

  101. The Gunner says:

Do you think they are that smart, Milo?

  102. Andrew says:

Yeah but who is the DFA not in on it, Snider, because it is safe to assume he’ll cut himself making a sandwich sooner or later?

  103. Steelag70 says:

    Raise It!!!

  104. Cmat0829 says:

    Raise it.

  105. The Gunner says:

We had ‘em all the way?

  106. Steelag70 says:

Well at least until we had the last lead… :D

  107. Baywatch says:

On THIS day the Yankees are no better than us. I’ll take it. And up HERE!!

  108. Florida Steeler says:

Morneau hits walk off homer in bottom of 10. Hitting like .329 and we have Ike and Gaby!!!!

  109. Baywatch says:

Well … I was hoping we could keep Derrek whatever his name was a year, too!

  110. Stlrfanrc (Ryan) says:

I have been a huge JHay critic. However he’s been doing very well.

He won’t take over any starting position, but he’s versital and every team needs a player like that.

    Hat tipped to JHay tonight

  111. The Pirates split! Can you believe that! Only the 6th road win of the season and only their 3rd win in the Bronx! Who would’ve thought this would happen! And now, they’re 18-25 and facing the Baltimore Orioles back at PNC Park to start this week off, and, hopefully, they’ll start doing that abrupt about face the Gunner figures they’ll have to do if they’re going to avoid that 95 loss debacle they’ve been headed for so recently.

  112. The Gunner says:

    James

Let’s hope the Bucs start a major turnaround vs. Baltimore. Check out where the Bucs stood on May 20, 1965 (see link) & how they finished. Maybe something like this can happen 49 years later.

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PIT/1965-schedule-scores.shtml

  113. The Bucs have the day off tomorrow and after that last road trip, You’d think they’d need it badly enough.

  114. Bucs GM Neal Huntington conceded before today’s doubleheader that they’re not a playoff caliber team right now, and you’d think that’s been perfectly obvious to him all along.

  115. The Gunner says:

That is why NH gets paid the big bucks. I appreciate that he took the time to clarify this for the faithful Bucco Nation.

  116. lonely libertarian says:

And who is to blame for that…

    The lineup should be…

    Polanco RF
    Walker 2B
    Cutch CF
    Abreu 1B
    Marte LF
    Pedro 3B
    Martin C
    Mercer SS

    With a rotation of….
    Burnett
    Cole
    Liriano
    Cumpton
    Morton

Would be above .500 with this alternative IMHO
