  1. radio wave says:

DK: xclassy to post this blog when Pens are not in it. Go Rangers.

  2. Sarah says:

Oh! A Stanley Cup Final game tonight ?

What- do they play one game per week or what?

  3. Sarah says:

    Ok, kidding.

I think tonight we discover just how very much the NYR regret giving away their best chance to get into this series by blowing Game 1!

  4. JohninOshkosh says:

    Television, Sarah. Television.

  5. Totalist has just won the Belmont, California Chrome fell back to fourth, and there will be no Triple Crown once again. They say that C#lifornia Chrome was tired. At least that’s the excuse for.him coming up short this time.

  6. And in the meantime, the Pirates are losing 8-3 to the Brewers in the 8th. Ugh!

  7. radio wave says:

Kings to physical for Nyr, how do they overcome?

  8. And they finally lost 9-3. I would hope that last night’s game wasn’t a fluke.

  9. Sarah says:

The Triple Crown is an incredible test…..and the Belmont is a marathon…..

  10. Sarah says:

    Hah!!! Oh….yes, that!!

  11. radio wave says:

    Ok, good start.

  12. JohninOshkosh says:

Ho hum. Kings down two goals early again.

  13. radio wave says:

Another 2-0 lead, can they win this time?

  14. NastyNate82 says:

So, they weren’t in the series before it started? I love how people love to just make grandiose proclamations after one game. I remember them being dead in the water after Game 4 against the Pens.

  15. NastyNate82 says:

Cole to miss a start with shoulder fatigue…yeeeeessssshhhh.

  16. hockeymonster says:

If they disrupt cycles early and block shots. But AV knows what he’s doing.

    Oh what could’ve been…

  17. NastyNate82 says:

Sorry, didn’t mean to pick on you too much. I just hate how much of the sports media has become if an underdog loses Game 1 and all the prognosticators proclaim it “over.”

  18. radio wave says:

    Possible dl too.

  19. radio wave says:

    Here we go again.

  20. Sarah says:

    Seriously Nate, chill.

  21. Andrew says:

    Depth and goaltending.

  22. radio wave says:

Too many men on the ice, cheap power play, but we’ll take it!

  23. Eric Bowser says:

Crosby shot distance over last 3 years is quite concerning
    ’13-14 Playoffs/Season – 29.5/27.3
    ’12-13 Playoffs/Season – 26.7/25.9
    ’11-12 Playoffs/Season – 25.0/27.6

  24. DJ says:

Guess Ranger fans found it easier to score tix in LA than PGH.

Or they all jumped on the bandwagon after Montreal.

  25. radio wave says:

Way to go. Take what they give you.

  26. DJ says:

He and Geno have stopped going to goal mouth, Eric. Very evident without stats.

New HC should replay video of Kings and Hawks like opening of Clockwork Orange.

  27. radio wave says:

Starting to feel like La Chicago.
    Wow! Nyr scores. Yes

  28. Sarah says:

Maybe they don’t have room to do that.
Maybe they’re double teamed all the time.
    For example….

  29. NastyNate82 says:

They’re cheaper in LA. Tix in NY are like 3 months of the mortgage.

  30. radio wave says:

Is there bad ice at Quick’s end?

  31. DJ says:

Or maybe they stopped making it Priority #1 as I’ve observed on too many occasions.

  32. Eric Bowser says:

The days of excuse-making for Crosby and Malkin are over for me. They are not the first two and won’t be the last two to be checked tightly by opposing players. The narrative that Crosby was getting no support because of tight checking wasn’t a problem when in other playoff games when he produced and had quality opponents too.

Does Crosby and Malkin need more room, yes but Crosby has blatantly changed his game from one that use to drive the middle of the ice and look for loose pucks or create from the odd-man rush to doing the Gretzky twirl up high.

You don’t need stats to know he’s changed but I thought it was interesting that you could possibly use this metric to notice a player changing his game.

Imagine if I had the scouting analysts to break down zones and lanes across the ice. I think there’s a huge gap in how the game is being broken down, just wish I had the tools and program to do it.

  33. Eric Bowser says:

The goaltending in these playoffs has been spotty to say the least.

  34. DJ says:

They’d probably tell you they’re triple and quadruple-teamed.

  35. DJ says:

Agreed, Eric. Like basketball or soccer, dominate the center of the floor, field or ice and you give yourself MANY more options / opportunities. Huge failing against Henrik “Post Hugger” Lundqvist.

Rutherford is looking for a metrics guy. Send your resume´.

  36. Andrew says:

Rangers have to make the Kings pay, going down 0-2 twice.

  37. Andrew says:

Is there even a trend there?

  38. DJ says:

    Saw VERY few at Consol.

Guessing a lot of “lifetime” Rags fans came out of woodwork after Habs.

  39. Sarah says:

I guess I’ll re-eValuate after they get a coach they believe in, and maybe some wingers.

Don’t disagree at all that SId’s game has changed.

He all but mailed it in this playoffs.

And that is not to excuse it.

  40. Sarah says:

Yeah and all that blather I said about NYR not blowing 2-goal leads like CHI did, well…..they already did once in G1….. Shows how much I know!!!!

Anyway, hope they don’t again! maybe we’ll have a series!

  41. Eric Bowser says:

It would be a dream to work that job to have the funding and support to create that application and on top of that, be able to use video to link what your eyes see to the statistical analysis.

Hard to explain when I watch a hockey game, I have Chuck Grillo in my head telling me, look at the lack of attention of detail in the player or team. How a player holds the stick, how the player angles his skating to force puck into tight zones…. as much as baseball has stats, there’s a world available to hockey that would awe people if someone had the staff to do it.

  42. radio wave says:

Nyr 10-0 when leading after two in playoffs.

  43. Andrew says:

    That is interference.

  44. Andrew says:

I just want a series, seems like everyone has been blowing two goal leads in the playoffs.

  45. DJ says:

And as to Sid going to the net, I believe that’s true and undoubtedly because of his fear of another concussion.

He changed his FO stance this year as well. Much more upright and side-saddle because of too many pops on the chin.

  46. radio wave says:

    Not reviewable.

  47. Eric Bowser says:

King was pinched by defensemen and he has every right to be on top of crease.

  48. Sarah says:

    ….and I had to open my big mouth and it’s 4-3! Oy…..

  49. It looks good for the Rangers tonight since they scored their 5th goal in the 3rd quarter.

  50. Andrew says:

yeah it is debatable, though they have been calling it all playoffs when the D-man forces the skater into the goalie.

  51. radio wave says:

Just don’t have it in third period.

  52. I was mistaken. Now it’s 4-4 in the 3rd as LA scores 2.+

  53. Eric Bowser says:

LA Kings… what a team, down 2-0, 4-2 and here we stand, 4-4 in 3rd period.

  54. Eric Bowser says:

    Marian Gaborik… such a talent.

  55. Eric Bowser says:

Cannot tell you how much I really like the roster composition of the LA Kings. They have it all and so much talent still coming up.

  56. radio wave says:

    Rangers should have kept him!

  57. radio wave says:

Nice to see Nyr carry the play early in ot.

  58. JohninOshkosh says:

Seems like a million years ago since my Wild had him. He was expected to carry the franchise in St. Paul. Not his way. Doing much better blending in with the superstar Kings.

  59. JohninOshkosh says:

PP coming up for Kings. 9:59 to go in OT. Ice getting repaired.

  60. radio wave says:

    Dumb penalty.

  61. Andrew says:

Unpopular opinion, sudden death is dumb.

  62. hockeymonster says:

    I got hagelin or king.

  63. radio wave says:

    La dumb penalty.

  64. Andrew says:

That is the Jeff Carter, hockey fans remember in the eastern Pennsylvania.

  65. JohninOshkosh says:

Who knows how hurt Hank might be. Hockey players and all.

  66. radio wave says:

    Was it a cheap shot?

  67. radio wave says:

    Where’s Nash?

  68. radio wave says:

Longest cup final game in Nyr history.

  69. Andrew says:

Damn, Rangers deserved something from these two games, stupid sudden death.

  70. NastyNate82 says:

Kind of like the lifetime Pens fans who came back when they drafted Sid?

  71. radio wave says:

    Crap
