  1. Maz in Iowa says:

    1-0 USA

  2. JohninOshkosh says:

    Landon Donovan sits in LA.

  3. USA is not the first nor it will be the last team to basically stop playing after a lead, but with 89 minutes still to play, it was risky. At least by the end of the first half they evened it a bit again. Let’s go, USA! Vamos, EUA!

  4. cobra39 says:

The Ghanan’s melodramatic thespian theatrics in order to draw penalties was funny at first, but now it’s just disgusting.

  5. Maz in Iowa says:

A couple of hamstring injuries could be huge.Hang on USA!

  6. Maz in Iowa says:

I bet LeBron would be impressed. :)

  7. Argh. Right now, Ghana is doing all the forechecking. Can’t let that happen…

  8. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Maz in Iowa says:

    Brooks GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  10. Maz in Iowa says:

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  11. If the US beats Portugal, it’s in (because Germany will not lose to Ghana, and I’ll be watching that game in a German pub in Brooklin — which is a neighborhood here hehehehehe).

I just wish the US had an uniform reminding the one they used in 1950: a white one, with a diagonal stripe in it, like River Plate’s!

BTW, almost every team has already played, and there were only two that gave up four goals or more: Portugal and Spain, can you believe that?

  12. Maz in Iowa says:

    Brooks was born in Germany.Ironic?

  13. I remember in 1990, USA’s first World Cup in 40 years, that many players on that team were born abroad. I have that sticker album somewhere…

  14. Maz in Iowa says:

And Klinnsman the coach is German as well.ach du heiliger Bimbam!

  15. Bizrow says:

All it takes is US Citizanship

  16. Bizrow says:

I butchered citizenship, and even that doesn’t look right ;-)

  17. The USA won today over Ghana 2-1 and faces Portugal Sunday and Portugal lost 4 zip to Germany so maybe they can go further than first expected. It would be nice if they did.

  18. DemonDachshund says:

Portugal pretty much threw their game away though when their best defender headbutted one of the Germans and got a red card. It’s tough to beat Germany, and it’s pretty much impossible when you play a man short for most of the game. Portugal knows it essentially needs two wins to stay alive, so they’ll come out firing against the US. And we lost our top striker.

On the bright side, if the Germans beat Ghana as expected, the US really only needs a draw vs. Portugal to be likely to get through. With the US sitting on 4 points in that scenario, Portugal could tie them but would have to make up 5 goals. The US can go all out defense to play for the draw (or at least the small defeat) against Germany.

  19. Bizrow says:

I think a tie might get us into the next round

  20. Well, THAT and not having played officially for another national team. :)
