With North Hills’ 31-0 victory over Fox Chapel on Friday, Indians coach Jack McCurry moved into a tie with Pete Antimarino for fifth place on the all-time WPIAL coaching list.

McCurry, who’s spent his entire career with North Hills, has 255 wins. Antimarino coached for Gateway, and its predecessor high school, Pitcairn.

“I faced Pete in my first game as a head coach when I was in my 20s,” McCurry said. “This is something to be proud of, but it’s because of the kids and the support of the school district.”

McCurry and Antimarino faced each other when both schools were part of the old West Penn Conference in the 1970s, and in two WPIAL title games. The 1985 championship game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Gators held on to defeat the indians in 1986.
