TJ settles for 3-0 halftime lead

On a cold, wet night, Thomas Jefferson had to settle for a 3-0 lead at halftime of its Thursday night game at Chartiers Valley when Mike Wainauskas kicked a 23-yard field goal late in the first half.

What really had to bother TJ coach Bill Cherpak was kicking a field goal after moving inside the CV 10-yard line. I’m guessing he also wasn’t too pleased about fumbling twice, losing one and throwing an interception. What kept TJ from falling behind was Chartiers Valley’s three lost fumbles.

For a team that hasn’t lost to a WPIAL opponent in almost four years, TJ looked decidedly ordinary against a determined Chartiers Valley opponent.
