Sites and times for all 16 WPIAL basketball semifinal games have been released by the league for the games Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Final Four fields have been set for the WPIAL basketball playoffs, and all eight top seeds have reached the semifinals. Here are the matchups for Tuesday and Wednesday. Half of the sites and times have been released.

Four basketball classifications have reached the Final Four, with the biggest surprises coming in boys Class AAA, where No. 11 seed West Mifflin and No. 12 seed West Allegheny have slipped into the semifinals to join No. 1 Chartiers Valley and No. 2 Hampton.

The WPIAL basketball playoffs have reached the quarterfinals, and already we’ve seen our share of outstanding performances. And after Wednesday night, add Blackhawk guard Rachel Curtiss to that list. South Park kept sending her to the foul line and the senior never missed during Blackhawk’s double-overtime victory, 69-62, in a Class AAA first round game at Moon.

Mt. Lebanon survived … barely … the first round of the Class AAAA boys WPIAL playoffs.

Former North Allegheny coach Jim Rankin, who was hired Monday as Butler’s new football coach, doesn’t have warm and fuzzy feelings when he thinks about returning to the Quad North Conference, where he spent nearly two decades.

A challenger for the Mt. Lebanon boys team emerges as the first round of the WPIAL boys and girls basketball playoffs continues.
