The much-anticipated and twice-postponed Chartiers Valley at Hampton boys basketball game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m., Saturday (Feb. 13), said Hampton athletic director Bill Cardone. The nonsection game, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was put in doubt by the record snowfall.
The winner is certain to earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming WPIAL Class AAA playoffs.
Chartiers Valley is ranked No. 1 by the Tribune-Review and has lost only once this season — a tournament game in San Diego. Hampton, the reigning WPIAL Class AAA champion, is ranked No. 2. The Talbots’ only loss was to Mt. Lebanon, the top-ranked team in Class AAAA.
The two schools sold 1,100 tickets for the game, a total that would fill Hampton’s gym to capacity.
Also, the WPIAL announced Thursday that the league has again extended the basketball regular season. Teams now have until Tuesday (Feb. 16) to complete their section schedules.
