Mt. Lebanon 56, McKeesport 44 — “They were playing a little dirty at times,” said Mt. Lebanon guard Evan Pierce, who scored a game-high 18 points in Mt. Lebanon’s quarterfinal victory Saturday in the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs. Pierce was on the receiving end of an intentional foul that sent him crashing to the floor behind the basket.
Gateway 55, Kiski Area 43 — Struggling with a size disadvantage and a lack of an inside game, Kiski Area spent much of Saturday’s WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinal playoff game looking up at the taller Gators.
Uppert St. Clair 61, Latrobe 41 — Steve Limberiou nailed a trio of 3-pointers during a 19-1 run in the first half, and Upper St. Clair pulled away from Latrobe in Class AAAA.
Shady Side Academy 53, Jeannette 45 — Shady Side’s Michael Young scored all of his 11 points in the second half, helping to lead the Indians to a win over Jeannette in Class AA.
Rochester 44, GCC 42 — A layup by Rochester’s Trey Johnson just before time expired gave his team a playoff win over Greensburg Central Catholic in Class AA.
