Friday recap: A few surprises reach the Final Four

Four basketball classifications have reached the Final Four, with the biggest surprises coming in boys Class AAA, where No. 11 seed West Mifflin and No. 12 seed West Allegheny have slipped into the semifinals to join No. 1 Chartiers Valley and No. 2 Hampton.

Blackhawks’ Curtiss stays calm under pressure … sites, times released

The WPIAL basketball playoffs have reached the quarterfinals, and already we’ve seen our share of outstanding performances. And after Wednesday night, add Blackhawk guard Rachel Curtiss to that list. South Park kept sending her to the foul line and the senior never missed during Blackhawk’s double-overtime victory, 69-62, in a Class AAA first round game at Moon.
