Sewickley has been Motley’s crew

Carrington Motley is showing everyone that Sewickley Academy won’t be talentless after Tom Droney heads off to Davidson. Motley, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, has scored a game-high 10 points during the first half of today’s WPIAL Class A boys basketball championship game. Motley does not start but has been the Panthers’ first player off the bench.

At halftime: Sewickley Academy 37, Lincoln Park 21.

First-half observations:

Lincoln Park sophomore Devontae Watson continues to play well. The 6-foot-9 center has seven blocks. At this rate, his hopes for a Pitt scholarship might not be to far off.

Chaquille Pratt has nine points. He had three baskets in the second quarter, but he’s going to need to score more if Lincoln Park plans to make a comeback.

Peter Schramm has 10 points and Tom Droney has seven points, including a 3-pointer just before time expired.
