Vincentian junior Keturah Vactor scored 20 points, leading the Royals to victory over section rival North Catholic, 57-31, in Friday’s WPIAL Class A girls championship game at Duquesne University’s Palumbo Center. Vincentian (16-7) had lost to North Catholic twice this season and four times last season before this upset of the top-seeded Trojans.
Up next: Class A boys championship at 7 p.m. The Palumbo Center is starting to fill. We’re probably approaching three quarters full, with most planning to stick around for the 9 p.m. Class AAA boys game.
