Gateway’s Dondi Kirby says his knee injury won’t make him rush his college football choice. But it might change his timetable.
“I’m still going to take all my trips before making my decision,” said Kirby, a standout defensive back and receiver, who soon will have surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.
Colleges have told Kirby they will honor their scholarship offers despite his injury. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior-to-be has a long list of suitors, including Florida, Southern Cal, Ohio State and Pitt.
“I was going to wait until after the season,” Kirby said of his decision, “but now I’m probably going to make it sooner than I planned.”
