For either Connellsville or Valley, an unwanted streak will end.
Connellsville has lost 34 consecutive games, but Friday night the Falcons will face a team with its own 13-game losing streak. Valley (0-8) hasn’t won a game since the middle of last season.
The 7:30 p.m. game will be at Connellsville.
It’s surprising how far the Connellsville program has fallen since it won a WPIAL Class AAAA title in 1991. The Falcons’ last win came during the 2007 season opener. This season, they have been outscored 311-40, including a 49-7 loss last week to Gateway.
Valley, a Class AAA school, lost last week to Mars, 56-0.
Connellsville’s streak moved one spot closer to being the state’s longest active streak when District 9’s Allegheny-Clarion Valley won, 13-8, last Friday against visiting Hancock, Md. A-C Valley had lost 46 straight.
Now, the state’s longest active streak (36 losses) belongs to District 11’s Notre Dame. South Philadelphia High School holds the state’s longest losing streak, 56 straight, set in 1990 through 1996.
