Coach: Gateway’s Harris making full recovery

Gateway’s Barnett Harris has shown great improvement since last night and has regained full movement of his arms and legs, basketball coach Mitch Adams said Thursday morning.

Harris, hospitalized at UPMC Presbyterian, was injured in Wednesday night’s PIAA playoff game when he fell awkwardly.

“Hopefully, after they check him out later today, maybe we can get him out of there tonight,” Adams said.

Harris, a 6-foot-10 junior, laid motionless under the basket for more than 20 minutes before paramedics removed him from North Allegheny’s gym on a stretcher.

While following a shot made by teammate D.J. Boyce, Harris grabbed the rim before falling to the floor with 4:11 left in the fourth quarter.
