Root Sports alters HS football broadcasts

Root Sports announced its plans Wednesday to broadcast a seventh season of McDonald’s High School Football, and a pair of changes are in store.
The network formely known as Fox Spots Net Pittsburgh will broadcast on Friday nights this season instead of Thursday, and flexible scheduling is being introduced in order pick the best matchups each week. As of now, only two broadcasts are scheduled: Week 1 featuring Thomas Jefferson at Woodland Hills on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.; and Week 3 featuring Central Valley at New Castle on Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Weeks 2 and 4 will not have any games due to Pirates broadcasts those nights. Flex scheduling will begin in Week 5, with Root Sports announcing the game 10 days before the broadcast.
The network will also broadcast three weeks of the WPIAL playoffs and all four championships at Heinz Field.
