Central Catholic cracks the Super 25

Already the top-ranked Class AAAA football team by most observers in the state, Central Catholic is starting to garner even greater national recognition.

The Vikings (3-0) are ranked No. 22 in this week’s USA Today Super 25 poll. It’s the first appearance by a WPIAL team in the national rankings since reigning state champion North Allegheny ended last season season at No. 19.

Speaking of North Allegheny, the Tigers (3-0) are high on USA Today’s East regional rankings, coming in at No.4.

Central Catholic, meanwhile, is No. 3 in the region, trailing only No. 2 Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) and top-ranked Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.). Don Bosco, which has one 37 games in a row, is also the No. 1 team in the Super 25 poll.
