With his 159 yards and four touchdowns, Julian Durden propelled Montour to its first WPIAL championship since 1964 as the Spartans cruised past Knoch, 42-14, Saturday at Heinz Field.
The Kent State recruit scored on runs of 1, 23, 13 and 73 yards, as he led the Spartans to the triumph.
Knoch fell behind 28-0 before Kyler Kenyon found Alex Strezeski for a 6-yard TD pass early in the second half.
The powerful Montour offense put up 371 total yards, compared to Knoch’s 190 yards.
Montour (11-2) will now enter the PIAA playoffs, where it will face District 10 champion Grove City at a date, site and time to be determined.
