Hopewell’s Rushel Shell was named today as a second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated, the only WPIAL player to make the magazine’s list. The Pitt-bound running back had 2,312 rushing yards as a senior and 9,078 in his four-year career, the most in state history.
Bishop McDevitt defensive end Noah Spence, an Ohio State recruit, was the only player from Pennsylvania on the first team. Four players from Archbishop Wood were named honorable mention: tight end Colin Thompson, offensive lineman Frank Taylor and all-purpose backs Brandon Peoples and Desmon Peoples.
