Hopewell senior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough is no stranger to postseason honors. This year alone, she has been named the state’s Gatorade player of the year.
Tuesday, the Maryland recruit was selected as the Pennsylvania Sportswriters Class AAA player of the year and named to the all-state first team for a third straight season.
The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 28.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.8 steals for the Vikings, who lost in the second round of the PIAA tournament to eventual champion South Park.
South Park senior Shelby Lindsay and Blackhawk sophomore Chassidy Omogrosso, a Pitt recruit, also were first-team selections in Class AAA.
The WPIAL had three first-team selections in Class AA – Seton-La Salle junior Naje Gibson, Jeannette senior Ciara Gregory (UNC-Charlotte) and Bishop Canevin senior Erin Waskowiak (Duquesne).
Fox Chapel’s Erin Mathias, a Duke recruit, was the only WPIAL player on the Class AAAA first team.
Vincentian Academy sophomore Brenna Wise was the WPIAL’s lone first-team pick in Class A.
South Park’s Reggie Wells and Bishop Canevin’s Tim Joyce also garnered coach of the year honors in Class AAA and AA, respectively.
