Lucas Nix picked for U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Thomas Jefferson offensive lineman Lucas Nix became the fourth WPIAL player to accept an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Jan. 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The 6-foot-6.5-inch, 295-pound Pitt recruit will join Aliquippa receiver Jonathan Baldwin, Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale on the East All-Stars in the annual high school all-star game. “That’s been my goal ever since I’ve been playing high school football, to make it to that game,” Nix said. “That’s a pretty big accomplishment for me.” Nix is ranked the No. 26 prospect nationally by Rivals.com and No. 27 by Scout.com, and is regarded as one of the top-five linemen in the country.
