Pitt added an infusion of speed and continued to open the doors to a targeted recruiting area Friday, when Maryland multi-purpose back Ronald Hobby made a verbal commitment to the Panthers.
Hobby, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver-cornerback, had 32 receptions for 500 yards and seven touchdowns last season at Brandywine Gwynn Park High School. He was timed at 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash at Pitt’s skills camp last month, and is projected as a cornerback/return specialist.
Hobby, Pitt’s seventh recruit from the Class of 2008, chose the Panthers over scholarship offers from Boston College, Eastern Michigan, Maryland, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
