With Long Gone, Sanft Pitt’s Interim AD


With Jeff Long formally accepting the athletic director position at the University of Arkansas today, Pitt has named Donna Sanft its interim athletic director.

A senior associate athletic director for administration, student life and compliance, Sanft is a 1974 Pitt graduate who was a gymnast for the Panthers and spent 12 years as Pitt’s gymnastics coach before moving into athletic administration.

Nordenberg also announced the appointment of an athletic director search committee that will be chaired by Jerry Cochran, Pitt’s executive vice chancellor and general counsel.

The committee will include Susan Albrecht, Pitt NCAA faculty athletic representative; Tom Bigley, a member of the Board of Trustees and former chair of the athletics committee; Marcus Bowman, director of athletic business operations; Kirk Bruce, assistant athletic director for Olympic sports; John Conomikes, a member of the Board of Trustees and chair of the athletics committee; and Carol Sprague, senior associate athletic director.
