Brytus on Ray Guy watch list

Pitt junior Dave Brytus, a West Allegheny graduate, is one of 41 players named to the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, presented annually to the top collegiate punter.

The Ray Guy Award is based on total yardage punted, number of times a punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, net average, average returned yards and percentage of punts not returned.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Brytus is averaging 40.7 yards per punt, with a long of 56 yards, this season. In 14 attempts, he has had two for touchbacks, six fair catches and four downed inside the 20.

The award, presented by the Greater Augusta Sports Council, will be presented live Dec. 6 during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
