First quarter: Pitt 0, Syracuse 0

Syracuse stopped Pitt three times at the 1-yard line, preventing the Panthers and keeping their Big East game at a scoreless tie after the first quarter.

Pat Bostick completed 7 of 8 passes for 57 yards on a 15-play, 80-yard drive, but Pitt came up empty on three runs from the 1.

Fullback Conredge Collins was stopped by defensive tackle Anthony Perkins on second down. LeSean McCoy was stuffed by end Jameel McClain on third down. On fourth down, McCoy tried to bounce to the right but was stopped by linebacker Vincenzo Giruzzi and strong safety A.J. Brown for no gain.

Pitt forced Syracuse to punt, but Rob Long’s kick out of the end zone went 57 yards to the Pitt 39.
