Pitt middle linebacker Scott McKillop has earned Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors for his standout performance against Rutgers Saturday.
McKillop, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound redshirt junior, had 16 tackles (10 solo), 1.5 sacks, 2.5 tackles for losses, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, an interception and two pass breakups as Pitt held the Scarlet Knights to 219 yards total offense in a 20-16 loss.
McKillop is the fourth Panthers player to earn Big East player of the week honors this season, but the first on defense. Punter Dave Brytus and kicker Conor Lee earned special teams honors and LeSean McCoy earned offensive honors.
McKillop leads the nation in tackles, at 12.4 per game.
