McCoy breaks Big East freshman rushing record


Morgantown, W.Va. – Pitt tailback LeSean McCoy broke the Big East freshman rushing record on a 19-yard run in the third quarter of the 100th Backyard Brawl at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Rutgers’ Terrell Willis set the conference mark with 1,261 yards on 195 carries in 1993. McCoy entered the game 81 yards shy of the record. He now has 1,279 yards this season.

McCoy has rushed for a game-high 99 yards on 22 carries.

Pitt leads West Virginia, 10-7.
