Central Catholic’s Sunseri picks Pitt

Here’s another recruiting update from Tribune-Review high school writer Tricia Lafferty:

Central Catholic quarterback Tino Sunseri became the latest WPIAL recruit to make a verbal commitment to Pitt on Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior, who previously made a verbal commitment to Louisville, became the 13th member of Pitt’s 2008 recruiting class and the seventh player from the WPIAL to join the Panthers.

Sunseri completed 100-of-186 passes for 1,834 yards and 22 touchdowns this season while leading Central Catholic to a WPIAL Class AAAA championship. Central Catholic will face Parkland in the PIAA championship Saturday at HersheyPark Stadium.

A wave of commitments came following Gateway running back Cameron Saddler’s press conference last Wednesday when he announced he would play at Pitt next year. Sunseri became the Panthers’ sixth recruit in five days following Aliquippa receiver Jonathan Baldwin’s and Norwin receiver Mike Shanahan’s announcements today.
