Cruz picks Pitt again

Pitt has received another verbal commitment from Johnstown Bishop McCort tight end Mike Cruz, who had backed out of an earlier commitment in April.

The 6-foot-3{1/2}, 245-pound Cruz chose the Panthers over scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida State, Illinois and West Virginia, among others.

Cruz is Pitt’s 15th recruit from the Class of 2008, and addresses a need position. The Panthers have only two scholarship players at tight end. They had received a verbal commitment from Ohio’s Nic DiLillo this past summer, but he later opted instead for Ohio State.
