Jeannette All-America quarterback Terrelle Pryor is in attendance for tonight’s basketball game between No. 15 Pitt and No. 5 Georgetown at Petersen Events Center.
Pryor sat next to Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, who is accompanying him on recruiting trips, behind the basket near the Pitt bench. Pryor was serenaded with chants of “We Want Pryor” by the Oakland Zoo student section.
One student held a sign that read: “Marino. Ditka. Dorsett. Pryor,” with check marks next to the first three and an open box next to his name. Pryor, however, declined to sign it.
Regarded as the nation’s top football recruit, Pryor made a verbal commitment to play basketball at Pitt as a sophomore before backing out a few weeks later. Although Pryor eliminated Pitt football from contention in June, the Panthers are expected to make a late push.
• Pitt, by the way, is beating Georgetown, 27-26, at the half. Ronald Ramon leads all scorers with eight points, including two 3-pointers, Tyrell Biggs has six and DeJuan Blair has five points and six rebounds. Jonathan Wallace has seven points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer, and Austin Freeman six for the Hoyas.
