The Pitt women’s basketball program has added a pair of 5-foot-8 guards to its 2008 recruiting class, signing Sarah Ogoke of Sugar Land (Texas) Dulles High School and Florida transfer Brittaney Thomas.
Ogoke averaged 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals for Dulles, which went 34-5 and won a district championship.
Pitt coach Agnus Berenato recruited Thomas out of Montgomery (Ala.) Jefferson Davis High, but Thomas chose Florida instead and appeared in 60 games over two seasons. Thomas will sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules.
Ogoke and Thomas join a class that features 6-6 Westinghouse center Shawnice “Pepper” Wilson and 6-3 center Kate Popovec of Canfield, Ohio. An additional scholarship became available for the Panthers when reserve guard Ashleigh Braxton transferred out.
