Pitt quarterback Bill Stull, who was taken from the field on a stretcher after suffering a concussion and stinger in the 54-34 loss to Rutgers last Saturday at Heinz Field, returned to practice today and worked out with the Panthers in full pads. Stull’s status for Saturday’s Pitt-Notre Dame game remains unknown.

    Pitt-Rutgers Post-Game

    October 26th, 2008

After watching the debacle that was Rutgers 54, Pitt 34, I have only one question: If the Scarlet Knights were the best two-win team in the country, what does that make the Panthers? The nation’s worst five-win team? We’ll see about that this weekend, because Pitt (5-2) has competition for that crown in its next [...]

The father of Pitt quarterback Bill Stull proclaimed his son “absolutely fine” after suffering a neck injury against Rutgers Saturday that caused him to be taken off the field on a stretcher and spend the night in the hospital. “He’s a little sore today, but he’s good to go,” Bill Stull Sr. said. “It’s nothing [...]

Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said that preliminary tests indicated that quarterback Bill Stull’s neck injury isn’t as serious as it first appeared earlier today, when he was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field. Stull lay motionless on the field in the third quarter of No. 17 Pitt’s 54-34 loss to Rutgers at [...]

Rutgers got a career game from its starting quarterback, while Pitt suffered a scare when its starter went down with an injury serious enough to have him taken off the field on a stretcher. Mike Teel torched the Big East’s top-ranked pass defense by completing 14 of 21 passes for a career-high 361 yards and [...]

With a career game from quarterback Mike Teel, who has completed 12 of 15 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns, Rutgers holds a 34-24 halftime lead over No. 17 Pitt today at Heinz Field. Teel has torched the Big East’s top-ranked pass defense – which was allowing only 156.5 passing yards a game – [...]

Rutgers relied on its passing game to produce its two longest plays of the season for a 14-7 first-quarter lead over No. 17 Pitt in a Big East Conference game this afternoon at Heinz Field. Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel threw touchdown passes of 60 yards to Tim Brown and 79 yards to Kenny Britt to [...]

Pitt coaches like to describe Elijah Fields as a hybrid defender who has linebacker size, safety speed and cornerback coverage skills. After playing strong safety and outside linebacker in Pitt’s nickel and bandit packages, Fields be at cornerback when the No. 17 Panthers (5-1, 2-0) play host to Rutgers (2-5, 1-2) Saturday at Heinz Field.
