Pitt middle linebacker Scott McKillop continued to receive recognition for his performance against South Florida last Thursday, as the Football Writers Association of America/Bronko Nagurski national defensive player of the week.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound McKillop, a fifth-year senior, had 12 tackles (all unassisted) — including one on a fake field-goal attempt — three for losses and two sacks in the 26-21 victory over the No. 10 Bulls in Tampa.
McKillop also was named national defensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Foundation and Big East defensive player of the week. He is on the watch list for the Nagurski award, presented to the nation’s best defensive player by the FWAA and Charlotte Touchdown Club Dec. 7 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.
