Pitt redshirt junior outside linebacker Shane Murray’s knee injury will require season-ending surgery, a Pitt spokesman said today.
Murray, a Hazelwood native and Central Catholic graduate, will have surgery Tuesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Murray started every game at weak-side linebacker last season, finishing second in tackles with 60.
Murray was injured on Aug. 19, a day before training camp ended. He sat out the first three games before trying to play against Syracuse. Fifth-year senior Austin Ransom has taken Murray’s spot in the starting lineup.
