Pitt quarterback Bill Stull was taken off the field on a stretcher after suffering an apparent neck injury in the third quarter of today’s Big East Conference game against Rutgers.
Both teams took a knee on the sidelines as team doctors attended to Stull, who raised his left hand and made a fist as he was driven off the field on a cart, accompanied by his father, Bill Sr.
Stull was hit by Rutgers defensive back David Rowe while attempting a pass, and had his head snapped forward in a collision with Pitt tailback LeSean McCoy with 5:59 remaining in the third quarter.
Rutgers leads the No. 17 Panthers, 41-31.
