Pitt received its first verbal commitment from a Florida prospect from the Class of 2009 on Monday, when Weston Cypress Bay multi-purpose back Jason Douglas picked the Panthers.
The 5-foot-7, 170-pound Douglas, who has been timed in the 40-yard dash at sub-4.4 seconds, chose No. 21 Pitt after taking an official visit here this past weekend for its 41-7 victory over Louisville.
He also had scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Florida International, Kansas State, Northern Illinois, Troy and Vanderbilt. Douglas is Pitt’s 14th recruit from the Class of ’09.
