Pitt announced today its 2009 football schedule, which includes five national television dates and three Big East road games on Friday.
For the second consecutive year, the Panthers will play West Virginia the day after Thanksgiving in the annual Backyard Brawl. The 102nd meeting between the rivals will be played Nov. 27 in Morgantown and will be shown on either ABC or ESPN.
Pitt also plays on Friday night Oct. 2 at Louisville on ESPN2 and Oct. 16 at Rutgers on ESPN. Both games have 8 p.m. kickoffs.
Pitt has Big East home games against Connecticut Oct. 10, South Florida Oct. 24 and Syracuse Nov. 7 and will finish its season Dec. 5 at Heinz Field against defending Big East champion Cincinnati in a game that will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
The Panthers’ non-conference schedule, which was announced Monday, includes the Sept. 5 season-opener against Youngstown State at Heinz Field, at Buffalo Sept. 12, at home against Navy Sept. 19, at North Carolina State Sept. 26 and a visit from Notre Dame Nov. 14 that will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
