My first column for the Trib centered on the impact high school football had on my life.
In it, I mentioned plans to follow the career of my cousin, Nick Marshall, a sophomore running back for Bethel Park. He made his varsity debut Friday night at Kiski Area – I couldn’t go because I was covering the Steelers — and found paydirt.
On his second carry, Nick broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of a 37-14 victory. Only problem? The home team didn’t call in the box score, so there was no written record of Nick’s first TD in any of the local newspapers.
Until now.
