A sliding Sidney Crosby added to his dominance of this series by smacking in the go-ahead goal to give the Penguins a 3-2 lead over the Ottawa Senators at 9:01 of the third period.
The play started when Evgeni Malkin stripped defenseman Erik Karlsson in the right corner boards, then crashed the net. Pascal Leclaire blocked it, but Crosby scored on the rebound for his fifth goal and 13th point of the playoffs.
A note from Trib beat writer Rob Rossi:
On his assist of Chris Kunitz’s tying tally, Crosby passed Wayne Gretzky with his 75th playoff point. It is the third-most all-time for any player in his first four playoff seasons, trailing Mario Lemieux (115) and Kevin Stevens (87). After his goal, Crosby now has 76 playoff points.
