Gonchar sticks it to Habs

Sergei Gonchar’s first shot split the stick of Tom Pyatt.
His second tickled the twine.
Gonchar scored a power-play goal to tie it at 1-1 at 8:38 of the first period, taking advantage of Montreal’s mishap – it had only three defenders with sticks on the ice – by firing a slap shot past goalie Jaroslav Halak.
It was the first playoff goal for Gonchar, who becomes the 13th different Penguins player to tally this postseason.
It was only the fourth goal allowed in as many games by Halak, who had stopped 135 of the previous 138 shots he’d faced.
We’ll see if it’s a promising sign for the Penguins, who scored on their first power-play opportunity of the series. The Washington Capitals were 1-of-33 on the man-advantage, with the lone tally coming in Game 4.
