Montreal right wing Brian Gionta scored from the high slot at 15:48 of the first period, as the Canadiens tied the Penguins at 1-1 in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal today at Mellon Arena.
Gionta was the recipient of a pretty pass by Scott Gomez from behind the net, and beat defenseman Brooks Orpik, who was stationed in the crease.
The game is tied at 1-1 at the first intermission.
