It’s been a lively training camp for first-round pick Cameron Heyward — a little too lively in the eyes of some of his teammates.
A handful of offensive lineman have talked to Heyward about knowing when to stop at the end of lineman versus lineman drills.
The relentless Heyward mixed it up with offensive tackle Jonathan Scott and guard Ramon Foster on consecutive days this week, prompting the sit down that Scott said was no big deal.
“He definitely goes hard every play and shows that fire,” Scott said. “That’s just kind of the mentality of the Steelers and that’s just the characteristic of just a hard-nosed player.
“Cam’s a good guy. He plays hard, it’s definitely going to pay off for us. He’s going to be a great player. The scuffles we may have had in practice, I left it there on the practice field.”
Heyward has been impressive during camp, and he will start tomorrow night against the Eagles if Brett Keisel (ankle) is unable to play.
