ODDS AND PREDICTIONS (HOPEFULLY, NOT ODD PREDICTIONS)

By Alan Robinson and Mark Kaboly

We’re back with our weekly Steelers predictions. See below. Also, some oddly interesting odds from Jimmy Shapiro at bovada.lv. The Steelers now are 18-1 picks to win the Super Bowl and 9-1 to win the AFC. As always, these numbers are for entertainment purposes only.

ALAN ROBINSON’S PREDICTION
STEELERS 28, RAIDERS 10
May be shortchanging Raiders QB Carson Palmer here. He usually has a good feel for Steelers’ defense, has beaten Pittsburgh four times. But Raiders have had no running game, and secondary is a mess. Steelers played terribly on last trip to Oakland in 2006, but don’t expect this defense to have problems making Raiders one-dimensional. Let’s call it a Ben 3-TD pass day, with one more in the running game. Steelers go to 2-1 at bye.

MARK KABOLY’S PREDICTION
STEELERS 31, RAIDERS 10
The only downside about playing the Raiders is the long flight to Oakland. Other than that, the Steelers should have a field day with an awful Raiders team that has issues on both sides of the ball. Oakland’s offense has scored a grand total of two touchdowns in two games while the defense is giving up 150 yards per game rushing including 172 to Reggie Bush last week. Of course, anything can, and usually does happen when the Steelers play the Raiders, but don’t look for any of that this week. My Prediction? Pain!

To Date:
Mark Kaboly 2-0
Alan Robinson 1-1
Spread 2-0

  1. Clarence says:

    23-17

This has all of the makings of a trap game. I have major concerns of a letdown here due to the Raider’s perceived weaknesses and my Steelers’, God bless ‘em, propensity to not do well with these types of games, especially with this team.

I see us going up in the 1st half, maybe 14 – 0, then getting happy, backing off the throttle, and making mistakes that set us up to be victims of a few bad calls will hurt us as the game progresses.

Not being able to turn it back on as easily as we turned it off and settling for a few field goals will keep the Raiders chances alive until late in the game.

Maybe a Woodley safety and a field goal late in the game will elevate us to 2-1.

By right, we should win 31 – 3… but we always seem to like to give weaker opposition a sporting chance.

  2. Clarence says:

Oh, my bad 23-17 Steelers of course… I mean we can leave out that part as I’m going Steelers e’ry game!

  3. Chuck H says:

What’s up with the Steelers? Like the Pirates, they can’t hold on to a lead. Where the
H— is the running game? Without that FUMBLE by Dwyer, we would have won this game. New OC but same old dumb running play calls, and just like previous years, Ben
just had to make two or three first downs in his last series in the 4th quarter to get close enough for the clinching score- TD or FG. I knew that when we punted to the Raiders, the game was over for us, with an experienced QB like Carson Palmer running that last series of downs. We need that running game back.
