Here are some random quotes out of the Steelers locker room on Wednesday before the Bengals game:

Maurkice Pouncey on an risk of further injuring his knee:
“I just have to keep people off the back of my legs. For me to really mess it up, somebody is going to have to get thrown in the back of my legs again.”

Ike Taylor on what he thinks of the local media:
“Over the course of the years, I always felt like that if we are in the same city, regardless of what’s going on with the team, why can’t we just be friendly. Why can’t you just point out the facts. Why does one individual have to be pointed out. Why does every media from other states (ask me) why does the local media come down hard on you? I am asking them the same thing. I don’t know. That was my reason for talking yesterday. I never said the local media bashes us. I said why don’t the local media have our back regardless of what the record is and what’s going on and if we do want to talk about a certain player or what’s going with the team, let’s talk facts.”

Mike Adams on getting thrown in the Denver game because of injury:
“It was kind of crazy not to start the first game but play most of that game. I didn’t expect it, but you have to be ready to play.”

Max Starks on playing on artificial surface:
:”It’s turf. It is not as bad when it doesn’t rain. You have to get used to it. It is what it is. Guys can wear different kinds of cleats to take pressure off so there is good and bad to it.”

Willie Colon on the 2-3 record:
“We have to have it. We are 2-3 and we have to stay in the ring with them”

Ben Roethlisberger on Mike Tomlin being criticized for not having control
“I think people are just comparing him to Coach Cowher. Every coach is a little bit different. I am sure Coach Cowher was a little bit different than the coach before him. Coach Tomlin is a player’s coach. Guys enjoy playing for him. He gets after us. He just doesn’t do it in front of you guys, which is good.”
