Giants defensive end Justin Tuck apparently believes there’s another reason other than upgraded offensive line play or Todd Haley’s short-pass offense for the extra protection Ben Roethlisberger is getting.
For the second time in a month, the Giants are complaining about an opponent’s alleged holding.
“I hope we get some holding calls because they have gotten away with murder,” Tuck told ESPN. “They have done a very good job (protecting Roethlisberger). They don’t hold on every play. But we’ve seen a whole lot of it.”
The Giants might have watched video of the Eagles game Oct. 7, when left guard Willie Colon was called for holding four times, although one was declined. Colon had six holding calls for the season at that point, but he hasn’t had any since then.
Last month, Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said 49ers defensive end Justin Smith “gets away with murder” by holding excessively. The Giants went on to beat the 49ers 26-3.
