Inside Libya

BBC correspondents have been filing reports recently from Libya.

Nick Redmayne goes back to unstable Benghazi to find out how the “rebel city” is faring after the fall of Gadhafi. The presence of Islamists? …

Meanwhile, we learn that the weak government in Tripoli has deployed special forces to Benghazi to try to establish order amid militias, called “well-armed criminals,” that have ruled the streets. The militias, or course, played a key role in the lack of proper security at the U.S. mission that was attacked Sept. 11.

You can watch how the militias protect their turf on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. Foodies will be disappointed with the episode. In Libya, Bourdain is served up dishes of anxiety not fine cuisine.
