A Kenyan lawyer is suing the Roman Emperor Tiberius, Pontius Pilate, Jewish elders, King Herod, Italy and Israel, the Jerusalem Post reports. Why? For abuse of power in the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Dola Indidis is taking his case to the the International Court of Justice, which is accustomed to more humdrum matters such as territorial or whaling disputes. A Roman Catholic and former spokesman for the Kenyan judiciary, Indidis wants Christ’s conviction to be overturned.
But a spokesperson at The Hague says: “The ICJ has no jurisdiction for such a case. The ICJ settles disputes between states. It is not even theoretically possible for us to consider this case.”
