China is on its way up, way up.
There “are unmistakable warning signs,” writes John Hickman in Foreign Policy, “that China may surpass the United States and Russia to become the world’s preeminent spacefaring power.”
The U.S. shuttle program ended in 2011. But China is planning to launch a “space lab” in 2015 and have its own space station by 2020, the same year that the International Space Station is set to be scrapped.
