Video: F-16 with no pilot breaks sound barrier

Think Top Gun with an empty cockpit.

An F-16 has been turned into a drone and reached supersonic speeds last week.

The first pilotless QF-16 Full Scale Aerial Target flight took off from Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and flew over the Gulf of Mexico, Boeing says.

“It was a little different to see an F-16 take off without anyone in it,” says Air Force Lieut. Colonel Ryan Inman.

Uh, yeah.

You can see for yourself by watching a video of the flight here.

Why a zombie F-16? It will provide fighter pilots an “adversary” in training.
