‘In shock, awe’ at Pittsburgher’s kindness

At Eat’n Park on Route 51, an Iraq war veteran has become the latest “victim” of kindness at the restaurant, KDKA reports.

When Glen Bootay, whose hat gave a nod to his service as a sergeant with the Third Infantry, and his family finished their meal, the staff told him their lunch had been paid for.

“I was just [kind of] in shock, in awe,” Bootay says.

The man who paid his tab? A Vietnam veteran.

KDKA reports that it’s not an unusual occurrence at the restaurant. Strangers often pick up the check for a veteran at the Eat’n Park.
